== Day 1: π² Salt Lake City β Kamas (Knotty Pine) == '''Saturday July 30, 2022''' ;Stay: [https://www.knottypine.camp/ Knotty Pine Resort] is a private RV park w/ swimming pool {{done}} ;Mileage: ~65mi 6200ft or ~61mi and 7100ft ;Food: breakfast: several options on the way out of SLC, one in the mountain a few closer to town, most open at 8am; lunch: [https://www.five5eeds.com/ Five5seeds] in Park City; dinner: camping dinner #1 ;Weather: Hot (35/23 -> 31/12C). ;Notes: Lodging is paid in advance plus one thing of firewood which should be included! There is a pool, hot tub, water and WiFi and probably even power for our phones. Alternative Lodging: * [https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/10048898 Yellow Pine Campground] (33 sites; all first come, first served; vault toilets, no water; $20) * [https://www.gocamputah.com/heber-kamas-district Shingle Creek] is also first-come/first-served and is 3mi down the road from Yellow Pine (21 other sites) * Should be all National Forest land so dispersed camping should be an option * The Saturday is fully booked at the nearest campground (Soapstone) so it might be worth thinking about staying at Knotty Pine instead. Route options: # The first option goes North and is a little longer, involves about 350m less climbing, but has 12 miles on what appears to be hard pack on [https://www.trailforks.com/trails/jeremy-ranch-road/ Jeremy Ranch Road]. Should be doable. # The second option is up [https://rootsrated.com/salt-lake-city-ut/cycling/big-cottonwood-canyon Big Cottonwood Canyon] and is all paved but will be a bit higher altitude.
