Ohanami 2011
Ohana (お花 or "flowers") mi (見 or "look at") is a traditional festival in Japan to celebrate the arrival of spring. There is traditionally lots of eating, drinking, and chatting done under the beautiful cherry blossom trees.
This is our 6th Ohanami Festival in Cambridge. Hope to see you all there!
The weather looks like it will be party sunny and very warm! There is a reasonably chance of a passing light rain shower in the after. You'd be wise to bring an umbrella and sweatshirt or windbreaker and maybe a hat! Saturday is rainy so it might be a little muddy. Bring a blanket or tarp to sit on!
- When: Sunday April 24, 2011 from 11:00 until it's dark. Or we're too cold. Or too tired. Or too tipsy. Or rain. We'll see!
- Where: At the cherry blossom grove in front of Walker Memorial and Wood Sailing Pavilion along the Charles river near MIT. If we move to a location with more blossoms, we'll update this page.
- Who: You! Feel free to bring family and friends!
If you would like to and are able to help Mako and Noah make sangria before hand, please call either Mako or Noah ahead of time to organize this.
What Should I Bring?
The forecast is for room temperature weather but it might be windy. Bring enough warm clothes to stay outside for some time. Coats, sweatshirts, blankets, and things to bundle up in are a good idea. There's a 30% chance of a passing rain storm so a umbrella would probably be a good idea -- especially for later in the afternoon. Also feel free to bring delicious things to eat or snack on and drinks to keep you hydrated. We'll be providing drinks as well.
Folks should feel free to drink alcohol but please be advised that this is a public place so take care to be discreet. Obviously, that means no drinking out of marked bottles, for example. We'll have copious amounts of sangria in coolers and cups.
