Currently, Molly is a research assistant at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society where she works with the Youth and Media Group, studying kids and technology. Since finishing her residency, she interned at the Free Software Foundation and One Laptop Per Child. She is still working on her ethnography, as well as other creative projects.

Molly de Blanc is a research assistant, aspiring writer, and amateur ethnographer. She plays bassoon, bakes, knits, and wears skirts when she thinks no one is around. She met Mako and Mika in Michigan in 2008. At the time she was a student in her home state of Pennsylvania, learning about History and Philosophy of Science, Japanese, Mongolia, Anthropology, and Writing at the University of Pittsburgh.

Nerd Legends and Keyboard Cowboys: Ethnographic Approaches in Non-Fiction

The last weekend of May, 2010, Molly moved into the Acetarium to begin working on what was presented as "Nerd Legends and Keyboard Cowboys: Ethnographic Approaches in Non-Fiction." The still ongoing project presents a slightly more personalized ethnography of individuals in the free software movement and the place the movement, and software, has in their lives.

Slides, notes, writing, and hours of conversation are available upon request.
